It may not just be about Maria Ressa, or Khasoggi, or the Reuters journalists, or the Guardians, but about truth telling and truth telling as a necessary anchor of democracy.
Here are some comments on that post (edited):
Lex Librero. Everyone, including journalists, have their basis for saying they're telling the "truth." Do they have the same basis and is what they're saying… right? Then again, our basis for saying one is saying… right is also an individual belief.
ArtnPia Rivera. Afraid any "source" these days have to be taken with a grain of salt?
Ben S Malayang III. ArtnPia Rivera Always. The "salt" being reason more than passion, and a more objective appreciation of evidence than subjective angling of data. Whatever side of any issue one takes, it'll be more powerfully credible when founded on reason than passion.
James Hughes. There are a lot of "truth tellers" in the Philippines…. known several… the problem is even knowing the truth… nobody does anything… AND often the "truth teller" ends up being murdered… I recall a courageous Filipina journalist who exposed corruption… only to be standing at a bus stop and be murdered by two thugs on a motorcycle.

Frank A Hilario. truth is over-rated, folks. i subscribe to the truth measured by the 4-way test of the rotarians, or an improvement of it, zig ziglar's T.H.I.N.K. is it TRUE? is it HELPFUL? is it INSPIRING? is it NECESSARY? is it KIND?
This quick byte is my final comment. In the image above, I show my grandson Kiko with a book at hand sitting beside my bed, and his mother, my daughter Daphne standing, in a visit – so, what truth do you see? Remember: Looks deceive.
Journalists seek the Truth in order to broadcast it to the people. Seeking is only the first step in order to serve LOVE, which I believe is the first and the last we mortals should do. GOD is Love. Jesus Christ says to his disciples (John 8:32 NRSV): "… and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free." Free from sin. As a journalist or citizen, being fair is not enough. Truth must be anchored on Love, not democracy, not reason. You sin against yourself and against Love if you insist on the Truth that is un-Helpful, un-Inspiring, un-Necessary, un-Kind!
