Within
the last 8 days, this essay is the 13th I have written so far about Cat in this
blog QuickBytes (blogger.com)
– I upload it today, Tuesday, 25 December (Manila time), as my free Christmas package of 2 lessons, the
same 2 for creative presentations (like Cat's for Miss Universe) and for
creative writing (like Frank's Sweet.Short.Smart essays):
(1) Body: Open
to Adventure – You have to release yourself from the confines of your space
whatever.
(2) Mind: Open to Accidentalness – Accidental
is "what occurs unexpectedly, unintentionally, or by chance" (American
Heritage Dictionary, AHD). This essay
itself is an excellent example of accidentalness!
(3) Spirit:
Open to Acceptance – This is the reason for my title; see the image above
of Cat praying? She is witnessing. To "witness" means "to testify
to one's religious beliefs" (AHD). Yes, you have to practice your faith.
Did
you notice? Unintentionally, I have discovered that you need your Body, Mind & Spirit in any creative adventure. Unexpectedly, I
have invented "The 3 As of Creativity" – Adventure, Accidentalness, Acceptance.
Adventure
Why
did she lose in the Miss World 2016 contest? Cat later realized she was smart
but not country-smart. She did not know
enough about her own country! That called for an archipelagic adventure.
The
same is true with creative writing; you have to know much of what you're
writing about. If you can't afford to travel like Cat could, what's the
Internet for?!
Accidentalness
You
the writer are the Team Captain of the elements of your writing. In Cat's Quest,
the Team Captain was the candidate herself. Her own team was necessary, as she
needed creative liberty, all things to be considered. In Edward de Bono's brainstorming
Po technique, any accidental thought is welcome; yes, you consider even negatives!
Acceptance
Chastised
by her Miss World's failure, as Miss Universe candidate, Cat kept faith with
God's design for her. After winning Miss Universe 2018, she posted an Instagram
(with the image above, which I have painterized for effect) with the following
text:

Above all, thank you Jesus.
Throughout all the heartbreaks and closed
doors, you were there to comfort me. I lifted all my burdens up to you. At
times, I thought I knew better, I was impatient – you told me to wait and to
trust in you. You brought wonderful people into my life, you sent your angels
to protect me. You shielded me from weapons and stones thrown by others.
This achievement was made possible by you.
This is all for you Lord God, I lift everything up to honor you.
I love you and I trust you.
