The Warbler That Is Catriona Gray

On her Facebook page, "Catriona Gray," she shows a gladsome, fulsome face, with this caption: "How I'm feeling now that there's 3MILLION of you on this journey! @missuniverse #MissUniverse." She is referring to the number of followers of her single titled "We're In This Together" that is now #1 in iTunes. Here is her 3-Million Smile.

The one I have been interested in before this is her singing "O Holy Night" that which I have been singing with her for at least 20 times already, myself with my baritone voice. It's uplifting as I listen to her, even as I myself sing apart from her.

Charlene J Owen says, "She's been uploading covers on YouTube since 2012!" (17 December 2018, "Here Are 5 Videos Of Catriona Gray Singing Your Favorite Tunes," Female Network, femalenetwork.com). "As we all know, Miss Universe Philippines 2018 Catriona Gray is an awesome singer – a talent which she shared during the 2016 Miss World competition."

Fast-forward 2 years. Yes, she has a YouTube channel under her name. Yes, ANN says "Catriona Gray's Inspirational Song Tops iTunes PH Chart" (26 November 2018, ABS-CBN News, news.abs-cbn.com). It's a single; the song was composed and the lyrics written by Marcus Davis, produced by Young Focus International, which ANN says "aims to help children and communities in Tondo." Yes, "The beauty queen happily announced on Sunday that 'We're In This Together' peaked at No. 1 on iTunes Philippines as she encouraged more people to support their cause." This is the one that now has 3 million followers; I say, good for her, divine for Young Focus.
ANN above also tells us Miss Catriona has a Master Certificate in Music Theory from Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts.

Wikipedia ("Catriona Gray," Wikipedia) says she was born in Cairns, Queensland, Australia, where she attended high school. She was the lead singer in her school's jazz band, and she was a star in many a local production of Miss Saigon. ANN says "She considers Tony winner Lea Salonga as one of her biggest inspirations" (02 May 2018, "Did You Know? Catriona Is A Big Fan Of This Singer-Actress," news.abs-cbn.com). Miss Catriona says, "I grew up listening to her voice on the cassette tapes of 'Miss Saigon', which is my dad's favorite musical, and it so happens to be mine as well."

At one point in the Miss Universe 2018 pageant in Thailand, which she won, she told Steve Harvey about her love for music (Lena Grossman, 16 December 2018, "5 Things to Know About Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray," E! News), eonline.com):

Once I started music, it just was fulfilling in a way that everything else wasn't. My mom told me even in the womb I was dancing.

Mr Harvey also asked her: "If you were going to write a song about your experience here at Miss Universe, what would you call it?" She answered:

I would name the song "Raise Your Flag" because I stand here not as one but as 104 million Filipinos!

As Filipino, that is music to my ears!517
